Logan Lee, Secretary-Treasurer

Dr. Logan Lee has served as the MEA Secretary/Treasurer since 2021. He is an Associate Professor and chair of the economics department at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. Logan received a B.A in Economics and Government from Augustana University and an M.S. and Ph.D in Economics from the University of Oregon.

Logan teaches a variety of courses including Labor Economics, Economics of Crime Seminar, Econometrics, and Behavioral and Experimental Economics. Logan's central research focus is on prisoners' responses to policy changes designed to improve prisoner behavior and reduce recidivism rates. Recent examples include the role of prison education in reducing recidivism and increasing employment and the impacts of assignment to Halfway Housing after release from incarceration. More broadly, Logan uses applied econometric and experimental methods to study a wide variety of topics including emergency rental assistance, home multi-stage hiring processes impact top-down diversity efforts, and responsiveness to negative feedback.

Logan's work has been published in leading Economic and Criminology Journals including American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and American Law and Economic Review.
